Trivia[]
- During the drafting stage, the title of the episode was "The Target Dances Shinichi Ichikawa, the episode is primarily "a story depicting Dan's first love."[1] ", but the character of Maya differs from the Maya in the final version. In this version, Maya is depicted as being prepared for death from the beginning. When Dan forcefully retrieves the Ultra Eye, Maya resolutely chooses the path of suicide upon realizing the failure of the mission. Additionally, Dan's feelings for Maya exhibit a strong tendency towards love at first sight. According to the screenwriter
- The provisional title of the episode was "Another's Star ", but it is said that considering the series is a children's program, the title was eventually changed according to the producer's wishes.
- Due to budget constraints, there are no costumed aliens or monsters appearing in this episode, and even Ultraseven's action scenes are quite brief.[2]
- The main scene where Dan confronts Maya takes place in a small bar called "Noah", which is akin to a sophisticated nightclub. As the live band plays, young people dance or engage in games. This reflects the influence of American hippie culture and the popularity of go-go dancing in Japan at the time.
- In 2023, in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the Ultraseven series and to attract a broader audience to appreciate the charm of this classic series, TSUBURAYA IMAGINATION selected this episode and created a trailer named the "55th Anniversary Edition." The recitation for this trailer was provided by Mamoru Miyano.[3]
