Lost Memory (失われた記憶, Ushinawareta Kioku) is the first Ultraseven 30th Anniversary Memorial Trilogy episode of Heisei Ultraseven.

Synopsis[]

Under the leadership of newly appointed Chief Fukuhashi, a group of new recruits has arrived at the UG Far East Base. Meanwhile, Dan Moroboshi, having lost his memory in the previous battle, lived among humans, excavating ruins and going about his daily life. At the same time, a mysterious incident occurred in TechnoCity where many people lost their memories. It seems that a mysterious plant is involved in the incident...

Plot[]

A new team of Ultra Guard was formed after the disbandment of the old one, especially when Furuhashi was elevated to the new Chief of TDF Far East Branch. Captain Shiragane introduced his new members; Keisuke Shima, Takuma Mizuno, Masaki Kazamori, Satomi Hayakawa and Rumi Honjou. Elsewhere, Dan was working alongside a few investigators of an ancient ruin and broke a fight instigated by the corporate officers, while a mysterious woman watched the whole thing from a safer distance.

The TechnoCity chairman was brought to the hospital after a sudden case of amnesia, followed by other high-ranking staffs and this forced the Ultra Guard to join in the investigation. Apparently, Dan had been freeloading on Kyouko Murata and her daughter, Rei’s house after losing his memory as well at some point of time. Dr. Morinaga had investigated the patients and also lost his memories from the flowers brought by the nurse, but just as she was about to tamper with his brain, Mizuno and Satomi happened to arrive at the hospital, forcing the “nurse” to abandon her plans. Kyouko happened to be the head nurse of the very hospital where the amnesiac patients were treated.

Somewhere else, a worker named Yoshie was brainwashed by the mysterious girl into delivering her strange flowers. While Dan was working with the archaeologists, his curiosity over the surge of amnesiac cases convinced his superior to bring him to the TechnoCity. While investigating, Mizuno lost his memory after approaching the strange flower and Satomi had to knock him out. Mizuno reawakened with his memories return to provide cover for Satomi before the two escaped from the brainwashed hospital staffs and patients. Dan arrived just as everyone had gone to bring Kyouko home. It was revealed that Kyouko’s husband abandoned her at some point after Rei was born, forcing her to lie to her daughter of his ‘death”. She returned the Ultra Eye and Capsule Kaiju container to Dan.

Mizuno investigated the strange plant as not being a terrestrial origin and is also capable of absorbing carbon dioxide faster than normal plants. Despite its advantage on Earth, it is also harmful due to sprouting pollens that can paralyze a human’s cranial nerves. Kazamori remembered the plants’ origin from a certain nursery, but said location was already cleansed of these plants. The team split again to recover the plants across the city and destroy them. Unfortunately the staffs at that nursery had already disappeared, hinting that the alien flowers were still at large. Furthermore, they hypothesized that in addition to erasing the victim’s memories, someone else was taking advantage by turning them into their brainwashed minions.

Dan’s archaeological site was suddenly attacked by a group of brainwashed youngsters perpetrated by the mysterious woman. Dan was forced to cooperate with the new members of Ultra Guard when an alien saucer emerged from the archaeological site. The Murata family gave Dan his lunch as their final gift before he went into action, the latter bringing along Kazamori as their temporary cooperation. Kazamori lost consciousness when the space saucer crash. Dan approached the mysterious girl, revealing “herself” as Alien Viyell, who wished to return to his home planet to gather his people in invading Earth for the purpose of restoring nature back to how it was prior to deterioration. Variel revealed to the amnesiac Dan that he is actually Seven in disguise and proceed to grow bigger in his true form after losing his transportation.

Dan transforms with the Ultra Eye to fight Viyell as Seven, but the fight initially seemed to fall over Viyell's favour. Seven arises from the explosion, putting out the forest fire and finally killing Viyell with Wide Shot and removing his pollens away from Earth. Viyell's victims recover from their amnesia, while Kazamori observe Dan walking away with the Murata family from a safe distance.

Trivia[]

  • In 40:25, a scene of Kazamori attempting to stop Dan while standing in front of his hijacked Guard 4WD is also seen as a nod to the infamous moment where the latter's original counterpart trains Gen Otori with his jeep in Ultraman Leo.
