McDonald's is a worldwide fast-food chain restaurant. Throughout the years, the restaurant has given out several Ultraman Series toys in their Happy Meals, which are known as Happy Sets in Japan. In 2022, Ultraman-themed menu items were sold.
Happy Meals Toys[]
2013[]
From November 1, 2013, Ultraman toys were given out in Happy Meals for the very first time, as well as Ultlive DVD Ultraman Ginga, an episode of Mega Monster Rush Ultra Frontier and quizzes. Ultra Frontier cards of the three main characters were also available on November 10 and 11. To celebrate, the first episode of Ultraman Ginga was made available on YouTube for free, with 1,000 viewers randomly being selected to win a vinyl toy.[1][2][3][4][5] Tamagotchi toys were available at the same time.[6]

From April 18, 2014, eight more Ultraman toys were given out in Happy Meals. A 20-page booklet called Ultra Encyclopedia Ultraman Ginga S and Ultraman Victory was also available on April 19 and 20, as well as an original Mega Monster Rush Ultra Frontier card from April 26 to 29.[7] Aikatsu toys were given out at the same time.[8][9]

In 2021, six unique Ultraman toys were included in Happy Meals across three periods. The first three toys were available from November 19-25, the next three from November 26 to December 2, then all six from December 3. On November 20 and 21, Ultraman: The 5 Challenge Stickers [10] Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure toys were available at the same time.[11]
was also included, a sheet listing five challenges with stickers to mark them as complete.Additionally, each Happy Meal included a code that could entered on TSUBURAYA IMAGINATION for special rewards, which were a bonus movie titled Ultra Heroes: Special Movie 2021 , entries to a digital picture book and a chance to win Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga merchandise.[10][12] Three people could win Prize A, a Swirling Transformation DX Nursedessei and IMAGINATION pin badge, and ten people could win Prize B, two soft vinyl toys out of ten and the same pin badge.[10][12]
Chicken Tatsuta Collaboration[]
From April 29, 2022 to late May, two versions of the Chicken Tatsuta Return of Ultraman-themed packaging, while the second, called Shin Tatsuta: A Miyazaki Speciality, Chicken Nanban Tartar came with tartar sauce and promoted Shin Ultraman.[13] Additionally, red and black pepper powder for fries and four different drinks with Shin Ultraman cups were sold, two of which were exclusive to Aomori Prefecture, while the other two were exclusive to Kumamoto Prefecture.[14]
, a fried chicken burger sold at McDonald's in Japan at select times, were made available. The first, titled Return of Chicken Tatsuta was the original Chicken Tatsuta withFour campaigns were also run on Twitter which required users to follow the McDonald's Japan account and post with a special hashtag, with 100 winners receiving a 1,000 yen McDonald's gift card.[13][14]

A TV commercial called Chicken Tatsuta: "Ultra Delicious" Edition [13][15] It uses the Return of Ultraman theme song, Kaettekita Ultraman. Six shorts connecting to the commercial were posted on the McDonald's Japan Twitter leading up to its airing:

- In episode 34 of Gridman the Hyper Agent, Musashibo Benkei is transported to the present and buys food from a McDonald's.
- This was referenced in episode 5 of SSSS.DYNAZENON with a McDonald's-like restaurant called "MusashiBou's".
- In May 2022, Tatsuomi Hamada, who played Riku Asakura in Ultraman Geed, starred as the protagonist of That Time a Samurai Became a McDonald's Employee. [38]
- Ike Nwala, who voiced Ultraman Nice in the English dub of Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad, also appeared in the series.
- The Shin Tatsuta's subtitle is meant to mimic the subtitles of Shin Ultraman and Ultraman.
