Hiroto Ban was a member of the Spacecraft Arandas crew along with his father Tetsuro Ban. Ultraman Mebius' human form, Mirai Hibino mimicked his appearance to honor him.

Pre-Ultraman Mebius[]
Hiroto Ban was born on Mars, and embarked on a mission aboard the Spacecraft Arandas with his father, the captain, to deliver Spacium to Earth. This would be his very first visit to Earth and he was excited to make friends there, and also planned to bury his mother's remains on Earth, since she had been killed by a Namegon five years prior. Suddenly, a space distortion known as an Ultra Zone appeared, pulling their ship inside. The captain ordered the cargo to be jettisoned so the crew could escape with their lives, but the detachment system malfunctioned. Hiroto locked himself in the cargo bay, planning to sacrifice himself by detaching it from a switch inside. Although his father tried to convince him otherwise, Hiroto believed it was the captain's responsibility to get home safely with his crew, reassuring him that his mother is alive in his heart, so he will too. Tetsuro yelled his son name's as the cargo bay slowly descended into the Ultra Zone.
In the distance, a bright light appeared, which Hiroto recognized as an Ultraman. Seeing a moebius strip formed by his light, he called him Ultraman Mebius and smiled as the Ultra desperately reached towards the ship. However, he was too late, and the ship disappeared into the Ultra Zone before he could reach it. Touched by Hiroto's brave actions, Mebius took Hiroto's form as his human form. He visited Tetsuro to show him, though he simply asked him to leave, calling Shingo Sakomizu to collect him. After Sakomizu arrived and the two began to leave, Tetsuro apologized, explaining that he couldn't handle seeing his appearance. He began to shed tears as he gave Mebius his blessing to take his son's form, wishing for his future days on Earth to be bright. From this, Mebius took the name Mirai Hibino, meaning future days.
Ultraman Mebius[]
Six months later, GUYS SPACY detected another Ultra Zone and received a transmission from Hiroto Ban from the inside. CREW GUYS embarked on a mission to investigate the message, with Mirai hopeful that Hiroto had survived. However, once they reached the Arandas's wreckage, they learned the distress call was automated. They witnessed the event on security camera footage, and took Hiroto's pocketwatch, which had been given to him by his mother, with them back to Earth. Cry from Space
Mirai visited Tetsuro's house to personally deliver the pocketwatch to him and the two reminisced about incident. Mirai assured Tetsuro that he would keep using his form to live for Hiroto. Tetsuro thanked him, but insisted that Hiroto lived in his heart, so he should live his own life.
When Ryu Aihara asked Mirai how he knew Hiroto, Yuki Misaki, aware of the situation, claimed it was because they met while Mirai was living in space. Remembering his son's words, Tetsuro watched contentedly as Mirai chatted to his friends. Future Days
