The defense team that appears in the Fireman series. The Earth Science Special Force SAF (Scientific Attack Force), served as the main form of opposition by humanity against the monsters attack it.

Fireman[]
With the emergence of signs indicating catastrophic changes on Earth, such as natural disasters and anomalies, the once-extinct dinosaurs have transformed into monstrous creatures that continue to appear. After Fireman's appearance on Earth and subsequent defeat of these monsters, the Japanese government and various stakeholders demanded the formation of the "SAF" by the Ocean Development Center. Its mission is to confront and resolve threats to humanity, such as mysterious events caused by monsters, extraterrestrials, and natural disasters.
The SAF comprises five members, all experts in their respective scientific fields, with prior experience working in various research institutions. As the Ocean Development Center serves as their base, they are equipped with devices capable of operating under extreme conditions.

SAF's base
The SAF headquarters is located on a peninsula in the outskirts of Tokyo, serving as a research city. Its command center is situated underground within the Ocean Development Center. Although it falls under the jurisdiction of the Ocean Development Center, SAF operates independently as a defense organization.
Within the base, there are hangars for special Mechas such as Sea Marin, Marringon, and Marimble.

Gunpachi Umino

Gunpachi Umino serves as the captain of SAF (Sea Animal Foundation). He holds two doctorates in Oceanography and Biology and has a previous professional background at the Marine Development Center. Known for his hot-blooded and stubborn nature.
he also possesses keen observation skills and is reputed for making wise decisions. There are implications that he might be aware of Misaki's secret. His uniform is distinguished by its purple color.
Saburo Mizushima

Saburo Mizushima is a prominent figure in the field of space engineering, having earned a doctorate in the subject. He is renowned for his development of the Marimble, a spacecraft capable of operating in space.
As the Vice Captain of SAF he is known for his composed and contemplative demeanor. His uniform is distinguished by its blue color.
Daisuke Misaki

Daisuke Misaki is a new member who used to work in the Geology and Archaeology Research Laboratory, and he is highly knowledgeable in both geology and archaeology. He has an honest and upright personality, and is a passionate individual who loves justice. He is also very friendly towards children.
He is a descendant of the people from the Aban continent and has the ability to transform into Fireman to defend the Earth. His uniform is yellow.
Futoshi Chiba

Futoshi Chiba holds a Doctor of Engineering degree and is the designer of the Sea Marin and Marringon. He is a skilled practitioner of Judo, Kendo, and fencing, as well as being a talented all-around sportsman.
With his bright and honest personality, he often provides comic relief. He shares a close friendship with Misaki and they are frequently paired together on missions. His uniform is green.
Mariko Hayama

Mariko Hayama previously worked as an assistant programmer at the Marine Development Center. She holds a Ph.D. and is the only female volunteer in the team. Mariko is responsible for communications and possesses a mind like a computer.
She has a romanticist side and seems to care for Misaki to some extent. The others often affectionately call her "Mari-Chan." Her uniform is orange.

- SAF Uniform : The standard attire for SAF members, suitable for land combat, investigative missions, and piloting combat aircraft, among other applications. Each member's uniform comes in different colors.
- SAF Helmet : Helmets made from special resin. Each member's helmet comes in different colors.
- Space Suit : Worn for activities on other planets or during space travel.
Equipment[]
- SAF Laser Gun : A compact laser gun used by SAF members. It can fire high-temperature red laser beams and is equipped with a miniaturized atomic reactor, allowing continuous usage for up to a year.
- Flame Bullet Gun : A large firearm capable of firing consecutive high-destructive bullets.
- Compact Communication Device : A device used to maintain communication with headquarters, primarily utilized during investigative missions.
- Invader Detection Device : An experimental device developed by Mizushima. It can detect minimal radiation emitted by intruders.
- Geological Surveyor : Used for surveying the surroundings of earthquake epicenters and analyzing large rock formations' components.
Mecha[]
- Sea Marin: A survey submarine, remodeled for combat. It has a deep sea fish motif on its hull. Its length is 35 meters, its maximum speed is 70 knots per hour and it can survive to depths of 8000 meters.
- Marringon: A mainstay large ductile machine, it is loaded with missiles and super missiles. It is 18 meters long, weighs 12 tons and its max speed is Mach 5.
- Marimble: Developed by Mizushima, it is a small VTOL fighter plane that can also operate in space. It is 11 meters long, weighs 8 tons and can reach Mach 4.
- Moglian: An underground explorer, it has four drills, yet can operate underwater. It is 6 meters long and weights 8 tons.
- Marine Car: An amphibious patrol car. The base vehicle is a Mazda Capella.

- Unlike most defense teams, SAF was formed after the first appearance of their giant hero.
- Their helmets were reused and modifed MAT helmets.
