History

Ultraman Cosmos

Ragstone

A bizarre rock-like monster from space, Ragstone took the form of a strange, temple-like building called Ragstone Core (ラグストーンコア, Ragustōn Koa) and began to build a cult-like following from noteworthy individuals from across Japan. The monster would increase their physical and mental abilities using its hypnotic powers while also causing them to become addicted to its influence and their emotions to degrade. Once EYES discovered this strange cult, Shinobu went to investigate, only for Ragstone Core to turn her as well.

After EYES quarantined Ragstone Core from its followers, Ragstone grew to its true form, which also revealed a spaceship. This spaceship then fired an energy beam into Ragston, amplifying its powers and absorbing emotions from it. Musashi transformed into Ultraman Cosmos, then to Corona Mode, and began to battle Ragstone. The fight between Cosmos and Ragstone seemed to be even, with the alien creature even shrugging off the Naybuster Beam without even a scratch. Realizing Ragstone's power came from human's emotion "rage," Cosmos went back into Luna Mode to use the Full Moon Rect as a counterforce of "love," restoring everyone's emotions. Defeated, Ragstone began to crumble to pieces, which were drawn up into the mysterious spaceship before it fled into space. The Magic Stone

Alien Nowar later revealed that they had sent both Inculas and Ragstone to learn about humans as they were hoping to obtain monsters living on Earth. Puppet Monster

Trivia
  • Suit actor: Tomohiro Nagata
  • Ragstone's roar is reused from the Ultraman Tiga Kaiju, Golza.
  • Director Hideyuki Kawakami stated that the episode depicts the real-life issues of drug abuse in a more accessible way for children. Instead of Ragstone's victims becoming aggressive, as with drug withdrawal symptoms, it was written that they merely collapsed.

Ragstone Mechalator

After failing to capture the baby Arados, the Alien Nowar launched Ragstone Mechalator to battle Team EYES. Ultraman Cosmos appeared and battled the cyborg creature but got quickly overpowered by Ragstone Mechalator and its master's spaceship. Arados used the last of its power to banish Ragstone Mechalator into another space and time before seeming to die from exhaustion. Infuriated, Cosmos destroyed the Alien Nowar spaceship.
