Tomokazu Sugita (杉田 智和, Sugita Tomokazu) is a Japanese voice actor and founder of talent agency AGRS. In Ultraman Ginga and its sequel series, he voices both the titular character and its main antagonist, Dark Lugiel.

Career[]

Tomokazu Sugita was affiliated with Myuras from 1998 until 2001, when Myuras dissolved. After a period of freelancing, he joined Atomic Monkey for 19 years, eventually leaving the company on April 1, 2020 and establishing a talent agency of his own, AGRS.

  • Sugita is best friends with fellow voice actor Yuichi Nakamura, who voiced the titular Ultraman in Ultraman Ginga's succeeding series, Ultraman X. Their friendship is always popularly joked among other voice actors.
  • Sugita has a friendly rivalry with Tomokazu Seki, a fellow voice actor who shares the same first name. Ironically, Seki is one of the founding members of Atomic Monkey, Sugita's previous talent agency.
  • His last voice portrayal of Ultraman Ginga was the first Ultraman Festival 2018 Live Stage, with most of Ginga's voice acting being done by Takuya Negishi in subsequent media. Nevertheless, he is open to the offer for reprising his role in the future.[1]
  • In 2019, the Anime!Anime! website ranked Ultraman Ginga as the third place in Sugita's most memorable role, beating out other tokusatsu contemporaries such as Kivat III (7th) and Kamen Rider Ginga (11th).[2]
