Overview

The Hummer is an aircraft utilized by the UMA South Pacific Branch. Typically, it features a vermilion-colored body and is equipped with advanced technology and functionalities, including highly precise analytical instruments, a powerful xenon laser cannon, and missile systems. Additionally, the Hummer possesses hover capabilities, allowing for complete aerial suspension and enabling UMA members to conduct precise observations or execute missions in mid-air.

Furthermore, this aircraft model is equipped with practical facilities such as vomit bags and radios, aiding the crew in maintaining communication and handling various situations during missions. The South Pacific Branch Base houses around ten Hummers, with two of them, numbered "1011" and "1012," being the most frequently deployed. At times, these aircraft are also operated remotely within the base to ensure security and monitor the surrounding areas. Due to UMA's specialized focus on environmental pollution control, this aircraft is frequently employed as an investigative tool.

During normal operations, the Hummers are typically stationed at UMA's underground hangar. The hangar facility is equipped with a central elevator that can lift two Hummers into the launch tunnel above the launch tunnel.

Trivia

• The initial concept art for the Hummer was designed by Japanese illustrator Kunio Aoi, and this mecha was originally named "The Ichthyonis."
• During the filming of the series, the large curved spherical cockpit canopy designed by Aoi posed challenges for practical on-set shooting. Consequently, the production team decided to redesign the mecha with a more enclosed cockpit. After multiple discussions and comparisons of design proposals, they ultimately chose the version proposed by David Tremont and used this design to create the filming model.
