SRC (Scientific Research Circle) (科学調査サークル, Kagaku Chōsa Sākuru) is an organization that aims to close the gap between mankind and nature. Their goals include rescue operations, paranormal investigations and the study and protection of monsters and aliens.

Overview

SRC is an international scientific investigative organization dedicated to using cutting-edge technology beyond borders to actively address various mysteries and crises on Earth and in the cosmos, with the goal of achieving peaceful resolutions. The organization's mission includes researching, monitoring, and safeguarding Earth from potential threats, protecting non-threatening monsters, and focusing on technology-related ventures in space exploration.

History

Founding

Tablis 1997

The Tablis incident drove widespread attention to the issue of monster protection.

The establishment of SRC can be traced back to the late 20th century when Earth witnessed an increasing number of unexplained phenomena and monster attacks. Among them, the Minazuki Industrial Technology Institute (水無月工業技術研究所, Minazuki Kōgyō Gijutsu Kenkyūsho, abbreviated as "MITI"). which held revolutionary invention patents, was a prominent research institution in Japan.

In 1997, Tablis was awakened due to excessive development in a new Japanese town. However, when facing an attack by JADF, Tablis unexpectedly saved a girl named Kana Morisawa, who was trapped in an apartment. Subsequently, MITI relocated Tablis to the Hoyu Island in the Kaburaya Islands. This event sparked widespread public discussion and attention regarding the "monster protection" policy. Just established not long ago, SRC was still a small non-profit research organization.

In 2000, Dr. Kimoto of MITI used patent fees as startup funds for volunteer activities and founded a small non-profit research organization, SRC. At that time, SRC consisted of seven members and conducted research and development of the core module system experimental unit "TROY TOTAL" . During ordinary times, these members worked as civilians during the day.

Ultraman Cosmos: The First Contact

SRC 2001 01

SRC first deployed during the Alien Baltan incident.

In 2001, Alien Baltan arrived on Earth in search of a habitable home, prompting Ultraman Cosmos to track its presence. SRC officially undertook its first mission to protect monsters, including assisting in the rescue of Donron and dealing with the Balatan aliens attempting to invade Earth. However, during this period, they faced interference from Corps Sharks, which forced SRC to consider using weapons and other measures in emergency situations. While their core mission remained research, support, and protection, the mecha underwent some improvements.

During the Alien Baltan invasion, the team, along with an 11-year-old named Musashi Haruno and many local residents, managed to eliminate the threat by singing Schubert's lullaby. Although this proved effective, Corps Sharks' fighter jets quickly opened fire on Alien Baltan, leading to Alien Baltan becoming enraged and attacking the city.

Ultimately, this incident was resolved with the assistance of Ultraman Cosmos.Ultraman Cosmos: The First Contact

After expanding, the SPC established Treasure Base on an artificial island near the Sea of Japan.

Following this incident, the global arms reduction treaty known as the "Earth Peace Declaration" was signed in 2004. Facilities like the space military satellite Angelica were decommissioned. SRC officially became a global organization and initiated space development activities. To provide protection for monsters, the organization decided to establish the Monster Conservation Control Center on the Kaburaya Islands.

To avoid potential collateral damage near urban areas, SRC relocated its operational base to an artificial island in the Pacific Ocean within Japan's territorial waters. In 2006, they established Treasure Base as their headquarters. During this process, they also underwent some organizational reforms, including the deployment of tactical advisors from the JADF and the creation of the elite unit "TEAM EYES," composed of experts. This unit became the frontline team for the organization in multiple operations aimed at protecting monsters.

These actions garnered global attention, leading to SRC's recognition by the United Nations. With sponsorship from MITI, SRC established branch offices worldwide to expand its presence.

In 2012, SRC upon receiving a notification from the active branch unit Team SEA in the South Pacific region, initiated Project Blue within three days. This project involved the creation of a global barrier using K2 waves to defend Earth against the threat posed by Sandros.Ultraman Cosmos 2: The Blue Planet

Space Development Center

The Space Development Center continues to carry out the Neo-Utopia Plan.

Following this, SRC successfully restored the Planet Juran, which had been transformed into a Death Star and parked within the solar system, to a biologically sustainable environment. They also relocated the protected monsters from Kaburaya Islands to this new habitat, making every effort to prevent human interference in their ecosystem. This project was known as the Neo-Utopia Plan (ネオユートピア計画, Neo Yūtopia Keikaku) and was initiated by Musashi Haruno.

In 2015, Planet Juran's environment became suitable for biological life again, and the Neo-Utopia Plan entered its final phase. The launch of the Space Transportation Rocket "Cosmo Noah", from the Space Development Center, was approaching. However, Gloker Bishop launched an attack on Earth, and both Ultraman Cosmos and Ultraman Justice appeared on Earth.

The high-ranking members of SRC engage in negotiations with leaders from various countries around the world, along with Julie.

Delacion, considering humanity a future threat to the universe, intended to eliminate humanity and dispatched Gloker Bishop to carry out this plan. SRC attempted to intervene, but negotiations between the two parties remained at an impasse. Subsequently, the attack plan was taken over by NEW EYES.

The event concluded with the appearance of Ultraman Legend, who prevented the deletion of humanity and persuaded Delacion to give humanity another chance.Ultraman Cosmos vs. Ultraman Justice: The Final Battle

Many years later, SRC continues to actively engage in monster protection and ecological conservation on the Planet Juran. Numerous organization members have also relocated to reside on this planet.Ultraman Saga

Bases

After its expansion, SRC has established regional branches in North America, Alaska, South America, Europe, Africa, Northern Asia, Southern Asia, Australia, and the South Pacific. In various fields, such as space development centers, SRC possesses state-of-the-art facilities throughout these regions.

Treasure Base

Treasure Base, where Team EYES is based

The Treasure Base (トレジャーベース, Torejā Bēsu) is the base of EYES and the secret base of the SRC headquarters of the team of scientists. The base is located on an uninhabited island in Japanese territorial waters. The island used to be a former MITI experimental and research facility.

The base has a total of 300 employees, including EYES. At first glance, the island looks like a natural island full of nature and greenery, but many artificial facilities are installed inside, including the EYES command room, radar, and radio telescope installations. The beacon-shaped control tower in the center is equipped with restaurants, cafes, entertainment facilities, medical and scientific analysis facilities, and a martial arts hall for members.

In the basement, there are private rooms for members, a Core Module hangar, a maintenance workshop, and a catapult attached to each agency's launch door. There are four TECCH Thunder launch ports in front of the island, as well as a launch port for marine divers and an undersea tunnel capable of connecting to the Tokyo metropolitan area.
